Arvada is located northwest of Denver and retains a small-town feel even with its estimated population of 106,237. Established in 1870, Arvada enjoys a rich history, quiet tree-lined neighborhoods, and a robust mix of business. In the future Arvada will be included in one of three area transit stops as part of the metropolitan Fastbacks light rail system currently under development. Arvada offers many different kinds of suburban living with tons of older neighborhoods, newly developed communities, and ranch land properties to choose from. Most of the older developments in Arvada have big lots with tons of trees, which makes them very desirable. The newer communities that are being built on the western edge of the city offer lavish amenities, updated accommodations, "green" features, and wide open views of the Rockies. Arvada also has more than 140 parks and 125 miles of hiking, biking, horseback riding trails, and is home to three public golf courses.
